International Students’ Cell

The International Students’ Cell of Symbiosis was established for the admission, guidance and activities of International students in Symbiosis, and for the promotion of Indian higher education abroad. This cell controls the admission of students and also provides necessary guidance for securing admission. The admission of international students to all institutes of Symbiosis is done by the International Students’ Cell, under the guidance of the Joint Director, Symbiosis Society.

Who is an international student?

International students may fall under any of the three categories listed below:

(a) Foreign nationals*
(b) Non-Resident Indian**
(c) PIO’s – Persons of Indian Origin

*Foreign nationals are defined as foreign passport holders.
**Non Resident Indians are defined as those who have passed their last qualifying examination outside India.

Admission Procedure:

Students interested in applying for any postgraduate programme at Symbiosis University need to contact The Office of International Admissions for an International Students’ prospectus. The International Students’ prospectus contains all the information regarding the postgraduate programmes available under Symbiosis International Educational Centre, Deemed University and the Symbiosis autonomous institutes. The International Students’ prospectus is available at US $60. While requesting for an application packet, please remember to send the complete address to which you would like the application packet to be sent.

Procedure for application:

Step 1: Candidates are required to purchase the SIBM prospectus from the institute or by post for US $ 60 by Demand Draft in favour of “Director SIBM”. The prospectus includes Symbiosis International Students’ Cell - Information Brochure and eligibility form.

Step 2: The eligibility form needs to filled and submitted along with copies of certificates listed in the eligibility form and the registration fees of $ 275 by Demand Draft in favour of “Symbiosis International Students Cell”

Step 3: Collect the “Provisional Admission letter” from the “Symbiosis International Students’ Cell” at Symbiosis Society – First Floor.

Step 4: Use this letter at the Indian Embassy in the respective country and get a student visa endorsed.

Step 5: Appear for the Aptitude test to be conducted, followed by a Personal Interview as per schedule mentioned earlier.

Step 6: The selected student will be intimated personally. The selected students will have to report to the office at SIBM for admission formalities. Submit another copy of the certificates by showing the originals. Originals will be returned immediately after verification / endorsement
a) Degree / Pass certificate of the qualifying examination
b) Mark list of qualifying examination
c) Student visa in original
d) A Xerox copy of the passport – duly attested
e) A copy of the residential proof ( on finalizing admission)

Step 7:
Undergo the medical examination conducted by Symbiosis Institute of
Health Sciences and get a fitness certificate. As per government rules all international students entering India on student visa have to be tested for HIV and will not be given admission if found positive.

Step 8: Within a week of arrival in India candidates are required to register their names with the police in the Foreigner Regional Registration (FRRO) of the Commissioner of Police, Pune.

Eligibility Criteria:

A graduate from India or Foreign University with a minimum of 45% marks at graduation level. Candidates who have appeared for degree examination either as part time course or correspondence course, or in one sitting are not eligible. However, admission subject to obtaining a minimum of 45% marks, and the performance of the student in the aptitude test. The test is based on Verbal Ability, General Knowledge and Basic Mathematics. Students will be selected purely on the basis of merit (aptitude test).

MBA Marcom – 20

Course Fees:

3000 USD per annum.

Refund rules:

From the date of payment of fees:
• For cancellation made within 15 days (date of payment inclusive) 75% of the fees will be refunded.
• Cancellation made within 30 days – 15% of the fees will be refunded.
• From 31st day onwards no fees shall be refunded ( except for library deposit).
• No refund on account of prospectus or registration fees will be made in case of non- receipt or non- appearance of the same.

The International Students’ Prospectus, available for US $ 60 can be paid for in the following ways:

1. Demand Draft – to be made out in favour of “Symbiosis International Students’ Cell” payable at Pune.

2. Bankers Cheque / Check – to be made out in favour of “Symbiosis International Students’ Cell” payable at Pune.

3. Telegraphic Transfer
